# From Digital to Physical - Expanding the Digital Thread into Manufacturing

## About

The next in our series of PDM/PLM educational sessions will look at the value businesses can gain by expanding the digital thread into the physical world.

There is typically a virtual wall between engineering/design and manufacturing. This leads to the digital thread of information that flows through the early parts of the product development process to break resulting in a lot of duplication of effort in the manufacturing space.

We can give you the tools needed to dismantle this wall and eliminate a lot of the manual intervention that is required to keep product and manufacturing information aligned. We are also in a new age of information sharing where exciting new technologies are transforming the way we communicate manufacturing instructions to our shop floors.

Having a plan in place to leverage these tools is becoming more critical as companies strive to maintain a competitive edge.

## We will focus on the following key areas:

Best Practices for Integrating your PDM/PLM with you ERP/MRP systems

Re-purpose your 3D CAD data to develop feature-rich multi-media work instructions for the shop floor via you PLM tool

Efficient management and communication of operator instructions

Augmented Reality and it's value to your factory
