Pro/ENGINEER halves the time to produce mould base drawings

Bartek Design Ltd. is a design and technical program management consultancy, based in Ireland and Germany, with a worldwide client basis. The majority of its work with Pro/ENGINEER is injection moulds & automation machine design. When doing on-site contracts it often has to update and modify existing tools and machines to suit its client’s new manufacturing requirements. The portability of the Pro/Engineer license software is ‘key’ in enabling it to do this.

Hear what designers are saying about Pro/ENGINEER®

“The ease of creating and visualising complex shaped parts with Pro/ENGINEER has proven to reduce errors.”

Paul Heatherington is Lead Designer at Burnside Autocyl (Tullow) Ltd., a manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders in Tullow, County Carlow, Ireland. The company implemented Pro/ENGINEER when making the move from 2D CAD to 3D CAD in 2005. Mr. Heatherington had used SolidWorks® 3D design software in college, but when tasked with selecting the 3D CAD solution for Burnside Autocyl, he immediately opted for Pro/ENGINEER after experiencing its powerful and rich functionality. Ease of use was also an important factor in the decision, so the migration from 2D could be handled with minimum training for Burnside employees.

Why Microsoft moved to Pro/E Wildfire 4.0

I picked up on this news through Franco’s Novedge Pulse news aggregation thing-a-me-bob, but it made for interesting reading so I thought I’d share it. PTC just announced (although its not dated) details that Microsoft has moved up to the Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4.0 release – while at first you think, "hmmmm," you soon remember that Microsoft do a pretty bang on job of producing their own hardware using an in house design team (and with some consultancies – anyone else got one of those terrible Philipe Starck mice?).
